I would guess that:
Hardcore gamer: A gamer that devotes most of his time to playing video games, but they don't take over their life.
Addicted gamer: Basically addicted to video games. Video games take all their lives. They're probably with no lives.
I admit, I'm a hardcore gamer myself, but games don't occupy all of my time, I also have other matters as well.
So, what do you think is the difference between the two? Did I give a reasonable explanation of each one?|||I agree with you completely. A Hardcore Gamer is just a gaming enthusiast who enjoys gaming. Gaming is probably a Hardcore gamer's main hobby, but they still have a life outside of Video Games. On the other hand, a Gaming Addict is someone who just plays games, probably gets bad grades in school, doesn't have many (if any) friends outside of the games, and doesn't even interact with family. I myself am a Casual/Hardcore Gamer. I really enjoy Video Games, which makes me a Hardcore Gamer, but unlike so many people, I actually play games to have fun, which makes me a Casual Gamer. If I find I'm getting really frustrated, I'll just switch games. Its really a shame that so many people have taken gaming from a passion to an obession. I mean, come on, its called a GAME. That means you're supposed to have fun playing it. That's just my take on this. Good topic by the way.|||Hardcore gamer does everything in his power to be there when a game is released or go to a video game show and such. Also they have friends with who he/she plays with and enjoys it. An addict doesn't have a social life beyond the online games. They also get defensive or sometimes violent, for example: there was a kid who got his halo 2 game taken away by his parents, he then proceeded to kill his parents. Addicts also spend lots of money on games which hinders him/her to do other things in his/her life.|||Hardcore: loves all kinds of games plays a lot
addicted: probably doesn't have much of a life, probably plays WOW|||They are exactly the same.
'Hardcore' is just what addicted gamers call themselves and their friends.|||You gave a good explanation
